Hong Kong artist Chan Wai-lap presents a new solo exhibition at Oi!, continuing his "Swimming" series with an immersive bathhouse installation that blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination. Drawing inspiration from bathing cultures across different places and historical periods, the artist transforms these references into a contemporary interpretation that is uniquely Hong Kong. By subtly dissolving the divide between the public and the private, the exhibition explores the bathhouse as a place for both physical and spiritual purification, thus extending its significance to questions of self-discovery and social connection and offering an immersive reflection on space, culture, and perception.
